Helen M. Holman, DNP, RN-BC, CCMEP
Dr. Holman serves as the Chief Accreditation Office and CME Director for AKH Inc. She has extensive experience in physician, pharmacist, nurse, nurse practitioner and healthcare professional continuing education. She has additional experience in the management of hospital education departments, coordination of staff development programs, college instruction, and hospital administration. She has owned and operated AKH since 1997 and serves as President and CEO.
Dr. Holman holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of North Florida. She is certified in Nursing Professional Development from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In June of 2008, Ms. Holman became a certified continuing medical education professional through the National Commission of CME Professionals, Inc. She has also served as adjunct faculty with the University of North Florida and Jacksonville University.
In 2000, she was the recipient of a Great 100 Nurses of Northeast Florida award in the category of nurse entrepreneurship. In 2004 she was honored as a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year category of the Women in Business Awards, sponsored by the Women Business Owners of North Florida, the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women, and the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Professional Women’s Network.
Dr. Holman is active in nursing and educational organizations. She has served on boards of directors for hospitals and human service organizations.
Steve Eckert
Mr. Eckert serves as President and CEO of AKH, Inc. With more than twenty-three years of experience in healthcare, he was proud to join AKH in 2013 and support their outstanding team. He also serves as Executive Director for CME-University in Northfield, Illinois, a medical education and communications company founded in 2007.
Mr. Eckert also works actively with Dreamweaver International, a 501c3 charity that recognizes the needs of humanity throughout the world. The organization seeks to provide assistance to those who are in the most need with the least resource available. Some of the projects include helping a community to build a new school and construction of a small hospital for a town where none stood before. Efforts of this charity have provided care in the Rift Valley of Kenya for more than twenty years.
Jonathan S. Holman, BS, PharmD, CCMEP
He has extensive experience as a clinical pharmacist in adult intensive care and has held clinical management roles at medical centers. He currently serves as adjunct faculty for the University of Florida and supervises a clinical rotation in Drug Information. In addition to his role at AKH Inc., Dr. Holman works as a clinical pharmacist at a local medical center.
Dr. Holman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Colorado and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He is a Certified CME Professional from the National Commission for Certification of CME Professionals, Inc.
Dr. Holman is a volunteer member of Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) that provides primary medical services to the working uninsured of Jacksonville, FL.
Margaret Varnell Clark, MS, RN, RRT-NPS
Ms. Clark serves as the Director of Educational Outcomes. In this position, she oversees educational program development, research, and publications. She also serves as a reviewer/abstractor for the National Guidelines Clearinghouse, and the National Quality Measures Clearinghouse on behalf of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Previously, she was a Scientific Director for The heart.org and the Editorial Director of 4 divisions at Medscape/WebMD: Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Allergy and Immunology, and Emergency Medicine. She also served as an Editorial Director of the peer review journal, MedGenMed.
From 2002-2004, Ms. Clark was the Special Studies Coordinator for the Georgia Medical Care Foundation where her responsibilities were the development and review of research protocols and technical reports, project design, consulting on data analysis and statistical methods, marketing, monitoring, quality assurance auditing, data management, and project management for the national pilot collaborative, Chronic Kidney Disease in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease. Prior to that, she was the Clinical Coordinator for Respiratory Care, and clinical faculty at Boston University/Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts. Concurrently, Clark was a columnist for Advance for Respiratory Care Practitioners News Magazine from 1990-2010. She is the author of several peer reviewed articles, monographs, and books including: Inspiration: Your Guide to Better Breathing, and Asthma: a Clinicians' Guide.
Ms. Clark is the 1996 recipient of the Bird Lifetime Achievement Award given by the American Association of Respiratory Care, and the 2010 D. Robert McCaffree, MD, Master FCCP Humanitarian Award given by the Chest Foundation of the American College of Chest Physicians.
Elizabeth Adams, BA
Ms. Adams serves as the Director of Operations for AKH Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Charleston, Charleston SC with a focus on not for profit management. Ms. Adams has been associated with AKH since its inception and specializes in compliance issues related to accreditation policies and standards. She played a key role in the 2010 ACCME re-accreditation process in which AKH Inc. was awarded Accreditation with Commendation. In addition to her knowledge of continuing education standards, Ms. Adams is an experienced web designer and is the main developer of the new CE/CME Knowledge Center.
Jessica Goldman
Ms. Goldman serves as a CE Coordinator for AKH Inc. She specializes in project management for continuing education activities and is knowledgeable of state and national education requirements for healthcare professionals. Ms. Goldman oversees the coordination of logistics of continuing education activities, the facilitation and implementation of program attendance verification, and ensures compliance with state and national accreditation standards and policies in related to marketing materials.
Trish Brignoni
As a CE Coordinator, Ms. Brignoni serves as a project manager and customer service specialist. Her focus is on national accreditation standards and compliance issues. Ms. Brignoni's role is to ensure quality control and consistency of educational planning documents, serves as a liaison between departments regarding continuing education inquiries, and also works to ensure compliance with continuing education related text in all marketing materials.
