This educational monograph addresses the identification, reporting, monitoring and reduction of medical error. It is intended to make participants aware of the magnitude of the problem, of the many-leveled activities needed to resolve it, and the importance of each person’s role in the national effort to reduce medical errors.

This course defines domestic violence as family violence, and further differentiates the categories of intimate partner violence, child abuse and neglect, and elder & dependent adult abuse, mistreatment and neglect. The core content within this course addresses concerns that are common to all forms of domestic violence. Health care professionals’ responsibilities and mandates regarding recognition, intervention, reporting, documentation and prevention of domestic violence are all addressed. This course meets criteria for continuing education in Florida and provides a general background of information that is applicable to health care professionals residing in any portion of the United States.

The information contained in this monograph presents the educational material that is mandated by OSHA for healthcare personnel related to bloodborne diseases. The bloodborne disease information focuses on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis B (HBV) & Hepatitis C (HCV) as they are the major diseases of concern in an occupational setting. The epidemiology and the prevention of transmission in an occupational setting are also addressed. The current OSHA requirements to protect employees from tuberculosis are discussed.

This is a 1 hour course designed for home study by healthcare clinicians. Specifically, it meets the 1 hour HIV/AIDS continuing education for Florida health professionals that is required prior to their initial re-licensure. Information regarding the prevention, transmission, control, diagnosis and treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is provided. The legal aspects for Florida health care professionals are also discussed.

This 4 hour course meets the HIV/AIDS continuing education requirement for radiology technology licensure in the State of Florida.  Information regarding the prevention, transmission, control, diagnosis and treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is provided. Standard precautions, care of persons living with AIDS, workplace issues and legal aspects for health care professionals are also discussed.
