National Doctors of Nursing Practice Conference, is taking place September 30th through October 2nd, 2009 in North Miami Beach, Florida at the
Turnberry Isles Resort, Aventura.

The theme of this conference is: Exemplars of the DNP in Practice and Nursing Education - Defining Ourselves
Conference Objectives:

Analyze factors influencing Doctor of Nursing Practice roles in clinical practice and/or systems leadership

Explore current and evolving academic and practice roles for doctors of nursing practice

Demonstrate the contributions of DNPs to clinical practice and nursing education

Deadline for submission August 1st
Track 1: DNPs in Clinical Practice
Share your experiences as a practicing DNP or DNP student reflecting your contributions in at least one of the following categories of care delivery or professional services:
- Cost effective measures and/or techniques
- Improving access
- Improving quality
If you have current practice experience or have a successful DNP capstone project that reflects cost effectiveness in the deliver of care or services, or demonstrates improved access to care or services, or is an exemplar of improved quality care or services, please submit your abstract for either poster or podium presentation.
Track 2: DNPs as Nurse Educators
Contributions of DNPs to nursing education will also be explored. If you are a DNP faculty member, share your experiences that address at least one of the following categories that reflect the involvement of a DNP in nursing education:
- Curriculum changes as a result of the inclusion of DNPs on faculty
- Change in trends of nursing education with the inclusion of DNPs on faculty
- Addition or augmentation of formal evidence-based practice courses
Settings:
Settings of DNP activities will also be considered. We will highlight DNP activities in a variety of settings to include the following:
- Independent practice
- Clinical collaborative practice
- Aggregate care environments
- Systems Leadership
- Local
- Regional
- National
- International
Preliminary Conference Agenda:
The conference will begin with a keynote speaker on Wednesday afternoon, September 30th followed by two or more break out sessions addressing DNPs in Practice and in Education. The first day of the conference will conclude with a reception honoring all speakers and presenters.
The exploration and evaluation of exemplars of DNP contributions will continue on Thursday and Friday to include national and international speakers. The conference is scheduled to end by
5PM on Friday 10/2/2009.

Confirmation of presenters will be notified by the middle of August 2009
Oral presentation abstracts guidelines:
* Oral abstracts should be in a single block formatted paragraph without any paragraph indentation, single-spaced in Times New Roman 12 font.
* Not to exceed a total of 500 words excluding title and objectives
* Use the third-person active voice
* Must be self-contained, accurate, and concise. It must describe your presentation without additional documentation
* Include the name of the presenter first, then all other authors and contributors
* Abstract to include 2-3 objectives specific to this conference directed at the attendees who attend the selected session
* More than one abstract may be submitted from an author or group
* If accepted for oral presentation, the primary presenter must sign a contract assuring attendance prior to the printing of the conference brochure
Most presentations will be 20 to 30 minutes with up to 15 minutes for questions. Room and time assignments will be made after all presenters are confirmed and agree to attend the conference.
A $200 discount on the conference registration for one oral presenting faculty will be provided for the day of the presentation.
All presentation abstracts will be reviewed blindly by three reviewers from a national panel of DNPs in Practice and/or Education.
